A house of worth

I was a palace
a contrary creation
perplexing to the builders touch
strong
but tender
in my alabaster white
the middle room
a heart chandelier shunning the dark
floors soft of straw
fears did not court my thoughts
no pyromania of strife
my spine a jewel staircase
leading to the inner sanctum
of my mind
I was magnificent in my lonely fort

one day
I thought to be more
more than a decoration
more than my inside walls
A little mud house
was my grand design
I had become a creaking hollow citadel
weeping for the empty rooms
I opened all my doors to the elements
slowly
crumbling in the playfulness of seasons
alabaster smoked in dirt
no tears the day decadence died
I became alive
a little house of solid earth
more rich than ever before
