The Infest - 2012

Part 1: Prologue.

August 10th, 2012

The barrier was finished around 5:00pm, should hold them for the night… our supplies are running low, most of us are exhausted… this was the third repair this week on the southern end, we lost Jerald to them yesterday, I hope he isn’t one of them. Don’t think we could withstand another breach for a while… we are going to search for more supplies tomorrow morning… just hope they don’t get through before we’re better equipped.

Found one of the military supply caches today – food, ammunition, some weapons, medical supplies – the works. The darn thing took quite a beating before it opened, the new technologies are pretty secure and require military signature DNA… the whole place is littered with them… along with dead soldiers… or what WERE soldiers… I hope some are still alive – if not truely alive I hope they are all completely dead. I noticed something about this particular corpse… it had small, strange, oozing veins starting to appear around the neck, I told Jonas and Tedd to hurry it up after that – this place still gives me the creeps, I’m glad we have an air-lock near our fort, just hope it can hold.

Tonight’s the big night, we are leaving the air-lock open and letting quite a few in so we can even out their numbers… keep them from amassing too much and it will help them decentralise… most of the places’ population must be ravenous walking corpses by now… or worse. Once we know we’ve taken out a fair few we can start to brave some more sectors for supplies. Our southern makeshift barracks is looking rather good now, we are going to fortify it some more before lights-out at 6:30pm – just so we’re ready. Jonas is taking the top roof with the APO-70 Elite Rifle and me and Tedd are keeping the bottom and middle held down with assault rifles. The halogen lights are set up so we know what we’re shooting, besides – the bastards don’t seem to like the light too much… the seem to hold back more… although recently I’ve seen a few starting to brave it… the smell so bad too… Makes me keep wondering… what the hell did they dig up on the surface of that desolate rock. Time to get ready.
