Word Play

Pass me a phrase
You strike out fast
I’m going long
Where, I invite

Trade your verb for
my adjective,
You repose, missing
You, you are you…

Not here, you falter
Give me an O
Oh ok, ought
Ought what, you pose

Ought this, I return
I return! Oh dear
Dear Dear Dear Dear
Dear who, you raise

Artist's Description

The word “Play” is used in this poem to mean “experiment” as well as “performance”. The conversation between two lovers is seemingly “meaningless”- it is removed from its context, but it has a kind of movement anyway- that is it “signifies something”. I am trying to capture the unspoken speaking of expression- the irony of discussing unspeakable truths.
