I can walk around a cloud

Discovered late, after walking in the shade
and looking up, uncovering the blade
of light, just there behind the cataract-
and shifting slight, to better catch her blind,
a small eclipse (I had in mind) of heart
Because a force so slight, a movement so sublime
had ordered everything- had changed the course
of gray to white- it was a sacred, chilling find

I can walk around a cloud

Artist's Description

This poem is concerned with perspective- its theme is the human ability to shift directions- to alter the universe in an instant. I find our ability to witness and interact with the universe both thrilling and frightening. Imposing a perspective can be a kind of violent selfishness, just as it can be a sunrise over the conceptual crust of the already-known world. I was attempting to explore this paradox in the poem.
