A Better Fantasy

I paused for a few moments, as i thought how to reply.
Lifting my chin off my hand, which lay resting on his chest
while my body was pressed firm yet tender against his.

I accept that you need to go back to your other partner.
you share too much with them to stay with me until dawn
and see the golden rays of the sunrise, herald another bright day,
of you in my life, with the joy that brings, my lover.

Yes, a fantasy of mine, that one day it could be.
I paused yet again, as I reflected what next to say.
“A rather pathetic fantasy, I need to get a better one”
Said with a genuine smile gazing straight into his eyes.

But I did not admit I already had a cherished fantasy
Like Lucy Jordan, and her sports car,
I have long dreamed of Paris, returning to the delights of that city.
To be joined with my lover
and to see the sun rise on our naked bodies.
Where I could say, just simply
“Thank you”
Knowing we both felt deep in our hearts
that our times together are the real treasure of life.
