the taxidermy of longing

the taxidermy of longing
is an envelope stuffed with obsolescence
a straw trophy lingering over its consequence
powdered with the fine dust of discarded
technology
still
to kill in distant lands
we are deeply marked by our desires
it is just a skin
a rented home
a series of sensations
refashioned into postures
with effort skill and a shining aura
resting peaceably
it is a man-made beast
that blurs the distinction
a bizzare aliveness that is dislocated
from death
and the attendant oblivion
which is a shadow following the future
I am one of them
raised for meat

many words contain blanks
somethings
or others
that fit neatly inside frequencies
a vocalaise
that describes something that means something
else
that can’t be described
it is not copying the alphabet I have problems with
it is carving the words in stone
a brook that can babble in any language
a one size fits all nothingness that rubs up against
satisfaction
a long legged green turtle in a treetop
fantasy

the fat hour arrives on the river
a calm hermitage
a second hand arrow fingered with gloved
hands
a big sleep of unknown origin
a nude slope
the two faced lamb
on sale is crossing over
a white tuna done with school
becomes a great friend to fishermen
silver zebras wait on the prehistoric green plain
lusting
and as expected they refuse to be moved
their desires are so beautifully rusted
