edging towards serenity

sudden happiness
edging towards serenity
soon there will be nothing
to say
*

the scars of words
travel well
without maps
*

my absence is always
everything I can give
*

I think of you
then and tomorrow
then a someday to come
to a past undone
*

I have lost my affinities
with people and things
and still I dance like a puppet
with strings
*

I learned to work
to haul water and mow lawns
but even then I was dreaming
*

I love people when we do something
we love but much more when we are doing nothing at all
*

the hummingbirds fight for the sugar water
they look dazzling and fierce
and sexy
*

I am weary of posing
even when I am alone
*

if there were an alternative
to civilization there would be
a gold rush to get there
*

we are keeping our fingers crossed
*

Fukishima
fluoridation
mother’s milk
*

can you think of anything
more bizzare?
*

I share a fear of pain with you
everything else is conditional
*

in college a friend told me the
economy would crash
I have wondered how he could have known
almost four decades ago
He no longer remembers making the comment
but he is living and working abroad
*

I live in a foot race
I wonder which will run out first
creativity or breath?
*
