Artist's Description

During the Sydney train strikes in the late 80’s most of us had to walk to work, my little Tech College Photography student brain saw a fantastic photo op, so I took off to work like everybody else who lived in the North Sydney district and left for the journey ahead.
It was actually quite exciting just like it always is when your normal daily routine is broken and you have to confront the alternative method of getting to work.
If you have ever walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge you will know what a massive and imposing structure it is so the concept of people actually walking across it in suits (and I was hoping for a briefcase or an umbrella) was really appealing from a photographic viewpoint, add the perspective of the walkway and this is the resultant designated shot from the photo opportunity.
Technically I like the tonal range where there is clear tonal range in the blacks of the suits right up to the textural highlights in the pavement.
Probably shot on Tmax 100 which was my fave emulsion of the day.
