Return to the Divine Child

To sit and draw your face is to let go of some of the love.
The feeling flows from my heart onto the page.
The expression is theraputic. An act of dealing with,
clarifying and creating an emotion. A child at art is a child at
play. When I write that child frees up, it starts to seep through
my adult words. This world so strong on adult control – sick to the
core with it and so weak in child’s play. Monotany and
conformity flourish in the place of natural and true expression.

Suits – do you feel free to move your muscle bound bodies
contained in that black suit. Lacking sensuality, can you touch?
Blue suit so tailored with today’s financial review under your right elbow…
great posture…back tight. Remember image is everything out there.

Sophisticated lady – makeup hides a face that never sees sunlight.
But a face comes alive at night when warm water unglogs painted
pores to reveal natures imperfections. Maybe true beauty?
The hair spray strands of hair a touch unruly when hands go up and tears
stream down. The night reveals the true lonely heart inside
every hardened face. On occasion a tender heart can speak.

The pen and the brush are tools of the child. A child can speak at
night in freedom. Words honestly wraught, courage to make desire
real and to be. If only to be was enough.

In a world craving and desire lead only to the Corporate Ladder and a
Mercedes Benz is there a place for the child to breathe?

Pain has brought about the re-evaulation of my value system.

Artist's Description

Return to the Divine Child was a piece of prose/poetry I wrote in 1994 when I was trying to come to terms with working in the Corporate World when my soul was craving to be free and to just create art.
