Artist's Description

…during hunting season, anyway!

This is the inside of one of two canvas wall tents we often stay at in Lycoming County, PA (near Trout Run) during hunting season (the other tent is called the ‘sleep tent’ and has 8 bunks and a wood stove). We hunt deer and bear in the fall, and turkey in the spring. And then sometimes we go just to hang out, get away, ride four-wheelers on the miles of trails (they have almost 400 acres, bordering state game lands), and spend time with friends.

Some of what you’re looking at…the ‘table’ which usually holds our food/water, etc., a stepladder, useful for many purposes, the cupboard which keeps varmints and bears out of what’s in there (random supplies, some food, etc.), a hanging lantern, propane heater, coolers with the food we’ve brought for the weekend, a tree stand that lingers from last fall’s deer hunting, a bin with my turkey-hunting gear, and one of two benches for sitting on. Whew! Lots is represented here! It’s a good life, and it’s life as we know it while we’re there…outhouse and all! ; )

P.S. They leave the tent doors open so the bears can come and go – that way they aren’t as likely to damage the tents, just make tracks on the sides of the tents and the sleeping pads and go on their way. Ha!
