Artist's Description

Barabbas, Pilate and Jesus
• John 18:28 to John 19:16
The Jews lead Jesus to the government officials. They had an agenda and that was to get rid of Jesus. But yet the Jews had no right to execute him. Pilate brought him inside the palace and talked with Jesus. Pilate asked him “are you the King of the Jews” it was the chief Priests who made this accusation. Jesus told Pilate his kingdom is not of this world. Pilate said “You are a king, then.”Jesus said “you are right in saying I am King. In fact for this reason I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. EVERYONE ON THE SIDE OF TRUTH LISTENS TO ME.”
Pilate asked “What is truth?” It was not easy to find truth then as it has now became the same way in our present time. What does truth matter? Lies are now the norm and truth is on the verge of being lost. The gospels stress the important of truth. Truth is found here. The Bible testifies to the truth. It is the testimony and facts about Jesus Christ.
John 1 :14-18 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace and one blessing after another. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is in the closest relationship with the Father, and has made him known.
Proverbs 16:6 Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for;
through the fear of the LORD evil is avoided.
Pilate could find no basis for this man, Jesus to be executed.
Pilate saw something in Jesus that was beyond this world something powerful and he had fear. Pilate had Jesus flogged and was going to release him. But then, he was threatened by the Jews with ruin if he did not comply with their wishes. Luke 22:63 to the end. The Chief Priests and Teachers of the Law vehemently accused Jesus. Jesus released Pilate from his guilt and told him GOD was in control.John19:11
Pilate granted their demands and gave them a choice. John 18:39 It was a custom was to release one prisoner, at the time of the Passover feast. Do you want me to release the “King of the Jew” or Barabbas.

John 18:40 Barabbas was set free. He was a rebel, a murderer and a criminal. He was allowed to be free and Jesus was condemned to death. (like a scapegoat) Bar Abbas- means Son of the father. He was deserving of punishment worthy of death, and by nature children of wrath yet Christ was taken, condemned, and died, Jesus took his place. 2 Corinthians 5:2121 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
We today must stand for truth. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jonn14:6-14
Painted in water color on watercolor paper 9×12.
Dedicated to Jesus the KING of the JEWS and now the Gentiles.
