Artist's Description

Castle of Marene – Cuneo (Italy)

The neo-Gothic castle was built between 1850 and 1854 by Count Carlo Amedeo Grosso designed by the architect Louis Formento, the celebrated author of the Waldensian temple and church of San Secondo di Torino.

It came in 1904 to Count Vittorio Solaro Monasterolo who in 1920 alienated it to Joseph Davico, the owner of a chain of luxury hotels in Italy and France. Today the castle is crumbling and belongs to some families of the place. The neo-Gothic architectural features of the building hybrids as a blend medieval and gothic elements.

It was once surrounded by a large park that included, in the north, a vast forest, and on the facade, a beautiful Italian garden and a large driveway. The castle is situated in an excellent location, close to the historic center and main monuments.
