I don't know about you, but it saddens me that in our western society, more emphasis is placed on attaining social status (via embracing brands as our 'personal identity' along with its horrible friend, invidious consumption) than cultivating character. Cultivating 'facade' is a sure-fire way to bankrupt a culture, both financially and morally.
