Artist's Description

Photograph of peeling paint and rust with slight editing in CS3. This was the underneath part of the steel staircase at the shopping centre in my town of Sutton Coldfield.
My inspiration was the song made famous by Dame Vera Lynn and written by Nat Burton in 1941

Lyrics

There’ll be bluebirds over
The white cliffs of Dover,
Tomorrow
Just you wait and see.

There’ll be joy and laughter
And peace ever after,
Tomorrow
When the world is free,

The shepherd will count his sheep
The valleys will bloom again,
And Jimmy will go to sleep
In his own little room again,

There’ll be bluebirds over
The white cliffs of Dover,
Tomorrow
Just you wait and see.
