Andronicus

A stepping stone

Andronicus keeps his balance
And crosses the river
Only to find a steep incline
Which becomes a mountain to climb

With no ropes
And lack of hope
Only the grip of his fingers and feet
Will not admit defeat

The rocks below are inviting
The thought of flight enticing
But there is a ledge
He rests on the edge

Andronicus sees the sunrise
Love and hope are in his eyes
Once again he climbs
Into the sublime

New strength pulses through his veins
The sun on his back is so warm
He turns his head to see the balance
Of disaster and life
One last push
He feels the lush
Verdant moistness just above

Joy fills his heart
His past is far below
Andronicus can start again
His song heard by everyone

A turning point

Andronicus
