Friends

How can I tell you that I like you
How can I tell you that I care?
Its like treading on eggshells
All of the time
OK so sometimes I’m too flippant
That’s just the way I am
I can’t help being nowhere
That’s my only defence

You are pretty
That’s a fact
Please excuse
My lack of tact

If my idea of friendship
Is just a walk in the park
Or taking in a movie
Closer to the heart

A meal for two friends
Could maybe make amends
Or just a sweet refrain
Of a toon under the moon
Even just some time to chat
You know, about this and that

But friends is just right for me right now
You really are a gentle fragile soul
And like eggshells
You may crack and fall
Someone will catch you
Will it be me?
Who knows?
