Mother

As Bill Thackery the poet once said

“Mother is the name of God
In the lips and hearts of little children”
I wish I were Little again
To take away your pain

Bingo is my Mother’s therapy
Bless her for her energy
Arthritis, wind and rain
Won’t stop her
From going for a game

I’ve seen a picture of you
When you were young
Do you remember the one?
The Isle of Man
With your friends

You saved my life
I saved yours
But there’s a thing called fate
That fills me with hate
If I’d have passed
And left you
I think I’d have been
The death of you
When a child dies before their parents
It’s the saddest form of torment
I will always love you
Mother
