Fog

Breath clouds before me,
Droplets of water tip my beard.
The dog is off the lead and forages ahead.
Foggy mornings thrill me.

Shadows are non-existent.
The fog engulfs me,
Light surrounds me but does not touch me,
Foggy mornings chill me.

Shapes slough their familiarity
Stumbling and shape-shifting,
Seemingly tangled in tendrils of moist cloth,
Foggy mornings surprise me.

Every sound is muffled.
Unfamiliar movement, unfamiliar sounds, cloud my senses.
I love a foggy morning,
It makes a mystery of a common scene.
