Artist's Description

This image was taken at Pot Boil Point Flinders Island.using the Canon550d and the 18/55 lens

Pot Boil point is located on the eastern side of Flinders Island towards the southern end.

The reason it is called Pot Boil is two currents meet at the point. The result is some very spectacular turbulence. Some suggested that it looked like water boiling and is how the point got its name.

The tallest island in the picture is called Vansittart Island and is owned by a group of Russians who come over several times a year to go hunting on it.

One wag suggested a way of knowing if the Russkies were business people or mafia. If they hunted with rifles they were business people, if they used Uzis they are probably mafia lol.

This picture tells me a little about taking images on a trip like mine to the island. This image did not interest me when I took it, but a year afterwards I really like this image and it will go into my book about the trip.

So what images we like and don’t like can be very fickle. Great images we will always like but for good images like this one we often change our minds.

I went for a swim here but not for very bloody long it was freezing in the water.
