Artist's Description

I have been playing with my flash recently, trying to get the most from it. One of the ideas I had was to catch the intricate setail in a wave splash. the oportunity presented itself a few weeks back at terrigal on the NSW Central Coast. The rocks around the Skillion ar always good when the waves are just right and this was one of those just right days. I set up close to the rock edge waiting for the right combination of sky colour wave splash. As I was using flash I only had one shot per wave. I ended up with about 6 shots I was really happy with in that 30 minute period when we had some colour interest in the sky. This by far was the best shot.
Taken with a Nikon D3s using the 16-35mm Nikon Lens. the camera was set at ISO100 and a Lee 0.9ND filter controlled the sky. The flash was set to -1.0 so it would not nuke the splash and the exposure was set to 1/125sec at f8 focused on the end of the rocks.
