Only You and Me

Elbows pressed apon the keys
Ink dying low
Open up all the drawers
Let the notes of the past flood out below
Scribble scrambled on the piano
Looking through the past for inspiration
All I find is reminders of the bad
Tucked into a railway station
A dead person
A dead person waiting to live
Looking to write a story
Trying to make sense of it all
All I find is clutter sprawlled out
I’m somewhere else
On the beach, in a tree, on a lake
Images flash by like a train at a station
And I find myself looking for you
Union station was crouded that day
But I picked you out like we were the only ones there
You’re all that mattered
You’re all that mattered to me
We go home alone
And there is no notes, no stories, no imagery
The piano is gone
And you are the only thing here
And thats all that matters
You’re here now, and thats all that matters to me

I’m charging my camera for when you come back
I’m cleaning out the spiders under my bed
Hopefully you will like it here, at the house
Under the wake of the past drifting over my head
I’m putting up your pictures
All over the walls
I’ve been thinking I’m getting old
Too old to be all alone
