I thought I would try my hand at capturing fish in a fish tank at the Invercargill Pet Shop. Most of the shots were just blurred, they move so fast through the water and never stay still long enough. This little fellow looked me in the eye and was motionless for a few seconds, I got a shot… I think this is the Agassizi Corydoras Cat fish comes from the river tributaries of the Peru area, and is a peaceful bottom dwelling scavenger. The Agassizi has many black spots covering the body and a black, mask-like stripe covering the eyes.
The Agassizi Cory Cat requires a well planted aquarium with plenty of hiding places that provide relief from the light. A smooth sand or gravel substrate is needed because of the easily damaged barbels. They enjoy being in numbers, so a small school of six or more is ideal for these cats.
Breeding the Agassizi Cory Cat has not yet been accomplished in an aquarium and little is known about its breeding requirements.
