As you wander down the streets of Southland along the rural roads and peer into the gardens you will see colorful tulips – gorgeous tall standing flowers of all different vibrant shades declaring that spring has arrived.
Tulips are a flower that grow from a bulb planted in the ground, and are a perennial plant, meaning that they live for more than two years. The size of the tulip can be anywhere from 10 to 70 centimetres tall. They are also considered to be quite a hardy plant and can grow in unlikely places and even in the cold and snowy locations.
