Artist's Description

A mandala is a representation of the Buddhist universe. Tibetan Buddhists believe there is a seed of enlightenment in each person’s mind; this is uncovered by visualising and contemplating a mandala.

This is a traditional design originally created 400-500 years ago. Artist unknown.

Painted in acrylic on canvas this mandala was started on 8th September 2008 and completed on 10th August 2014, and took almost 3,000 hours to complete.

Scanned at 600dpi and uploaded here at a resolution of 11,460 × 11,460 pixels ensuring that every fine detail of the original painting has been captured and recreated.
