This uniform series of kitchen utensils by chemist and inventor Schlumbohm embodies the concept of the kitchen as a laboratory - a feature of the New War's interwar - that continued beyond the Second World War. After emigrating from Germany to the USA in 1935, Schlumbohm created the famous Chemex coffee machine, inspired by the Bauhaus school for design and in the form of laboratory instruments such as the Erlenmeyer flasks.
