Artist's Description

The Aurora Australis is far more elusive and difficult to photograph than the northern version, simply because there is no land much south of 40 South. In the northern hemisphere there are land masses right into the 90s range latitudinally.
On the evening of 7-8 of November 2015 Tasmanians aurora chasers enjoyed a remarkable show – beams, the International Space Station, meteors, picket fence/piano keys, SAR Arc. An exciting few hours.
Fuji X-T1 & Samyang 12mm f2. Shot from Goat Bluff, South Arm, near Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The small island is Betsey Island.
