Heritage

Evening all, have spent today looking at starting the family tree but have found it rather complicated due to split marriages/partnerships with children from different relationships. If anyone’s got more ideas to ease this I’d be happy to learn of them. Thought I’d take the opportunity of letting you all kno of a couple of sites I have been looking at in conjunction with the idea, namely
www.myheritage.com
RootsWeb’sWorldConnectProjectGlobalSearch
Some of the information that is useful to start of any member researched would be
Surname/maiden names/former names
Given name/christian name/cristening name/baptism name
Birth year/date of birth/place
Marriage/year/date/place
Death/year/date/place
Father
Mother
Spouse
Descendants
Siblings ie. brothers/sisthers – sex
Schools
Jobs
Parish/Church

Well for those who don’t know we are looking ourselves in the Edinburgh area for those associated with the names Docherty/Campsie, in order to collate pieces of information to pass on and encourage the reading of the history and interests of those who paved the paths we walk today…

How very lucky we are to live in a world of technology where we can find the links to those belonging and the things in life we share; and that through looking and predicting illness too can be monitored and life expectancy predicted. All things that make life itself just seem so very much more precious for each day we are given. Lets hope we can use the time we have wisely, for what and whom shall each one of us be remembered?
