As an artist, I use my materials simply to express my way of thinking and emotions in a visual form. I get inspired by the world around me with such things as music, nature, books, and even quotes to help me create a piece that means something. Many of my pieces represent the feeling of hope in a trying time or letting change take charge even though it may be difficult to accept. Part of my process is to connect with a concept for a piece on an emotional level. I do not want to just paint or draw what I think looks nice; I want to give it depth, meaning, and life.

My paintings and drawings portray many different emotions such as feeling trapped, broken, hopeless but have contrasting elements that represent love, peace, and determination to take risks if it means finding freedom. Whether it’s a soulful eye, a shaft of odd colored hair or a peaceful background, my art speaks not only for me on how I see the world but for those who I hope can see themselves in the images on canvas.
