Artist's Description

A bit of Kawaii culture and a bit of mandalas’ technique. Until now, all my the mandala I have drawn were made of dots and strokes.
Living in Japan and being surrounded by the sweet “kawaii” culture and also the “kowaii” (scary) new trend growing, gave me a lot of ideas.
Basically, Tokyo’s kids mix cute things with more gory and scary items. It is called “kimokawaii”, something’s weird but adorable.

This colorful mandala is close to my usual style with a twist of kawaii culture added to it.

To create it I’ve started to sketch some cute characters and then greadually added details to fill the blanks.

There is two version of this one is very bright, colourful like some animal from the jungle. The other one is a bit darker like an elf from a mysterious land in a RPG game.

Can you see the characters’ faces in this artwork?
