Artist's Description

This Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) was perched on the tallest snag available near Bear Creek west of Victor, Montana USA. It was there at dawn and as the sun came out, he spread his wings (just this far and held them there) and exposed his feathers. This was about 8:30 in the morning. I watched it while the sun was coming up and as the sun hit it (and it hit the top of the snag before the lower part of the landscape) this guy “exposed itself” as if to say, “Ahhhhh, warm me up, dry my feathers, this feels soooo good!” It was hilarious. They are funny enough looking just perched, but when he did this pose, I had to laugh out loud!
