Mule deer. This is the time of year when Mule deer are in rut. These deer were part of a small group in the Bittterroot Mountains south of Darby, Montana.
“Rut” is the mating season of ruminant animals such as deer, sheep, elk, moose, caribou, goats, pronghorn. The peak of the rut in our area generally occurs in late November and early December.
