Artist's Description

Sweet little room with books along the walls, a sitting table and chairs and a small desk on the other side. Mamie Eisenhower sat here to write her checks and keep up with her household records. It was a very homey room and hard to believe a First Lady would have such a simple, warm, comfy office.

photo taken in April 2009 at the Eisenhower National Historic Site which was the home and farm of General and President of the United States Dwight D. Eisenhower and Mamie Doud Eisenhower. Located adjacent to the Gettysburg Battlefield in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the farm served as a weekend retreat for the President and a meeting place for world leaders. It was the Eisenhowers’ home after they left the White House in 1961.
