Artist's Description

This photo was taken in on 30-Sep-7. The door was chained shut, so I had to reach in and position the camera so I could get the shot inside the base of the tower. As you can see it was in great state of disrepair, graffetti, crumbing stone and rusted iron.

This tower used to be part of the Lambert Castle property, so it looks like a castle. For many many years it remained in ruins. I contacted the Passaic County Historical Society to voice my fears and upset about its condition. he tower is now part of the Garrett Mountain Reservation and Passaic County Park system.

When I visited the tower last winter I was VERY pleased to see restoration and renovations under way. I have since learned the county plans to eventually open the tower again and it is a beautiful thing to see the wonderful work and the tower restored to its original beauty.
