Artist's Description

I do not know what kind of tree this is, but we have a lot in our woods behind our house as well. This photo was taken in a park in Montclair however. You can see the inside tree is old and dead – and another tree has grown by twisting itself around the dead tree. I am guessing that at one time the inside tree was NOT dead, and that as the twisting tree grew it sucked the life out of the inside tree. The twisted tree has beautiful full branches – as you can see. Unless you looked closely, you might even think the branches and greenery are from the inside tree.

In some places, if you look closely, you can see the twisting tree is twisting around its very own branches.

if anyone knows what the twisting tree is, feel free to tell me so I can add this information to my image. I also have another photo of this type twisting tree from the woods behind my house. They are beautiful in their twisting and turns, but obviously deadly to the trees they twist around.
