Dust

Dust is so insidious,
It gets in everywhere,
Layers upon layers of grey,
But invisible in the air

Don’t touch something for awhile,
Then come back in a year
You’ll be able to write in the dust,
“So and so was here”.

That is how thick it will be,
Lying undisturbed,
And when we discover it,
We seem so perturbed!

How did all that dust get here?
Where did it get in?
I’m getting the vacuum,
Or tissues that’ll go in the bin

Often I discover
That I have a sneezing fit
That is what dust does to me,
Every little bit.

Dust is never wanted,
Treated like a pest
Clean it up, throw it away
So homes can look their best.
