I am an artist and a poet, living in a small community in Wisconsin with the love of my life, my husband Steve and the always-joyous presence of my two beloved dogs Captain and Tripper. I have loved art longer than life and failed and succeeded in both often. Leonardo da Vinci said; “Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is no art.” Concerning my work I have found no truer statement. What I create is a direct expression of the governing spirit within in me. Be it light, I pour out its overflow, be it darkness, I wrestle to relinquish it to the light. Christ has shown me the beauty in both. Recently color pencil and markers have become my weapon of choice, but in the not so distant past I have drawn and created my art digitally. Now more than not, I choose to A,employ them both.

In 2006 I lost a year of my life to depression. If you have been through it, then I needn’t explain, if you haven’t, I have no explanation. But during that time I was unable to do my art. However, the Lord sustained me, and would utter two words, and as those two words would seep into my spirit, a poem would emerge. I am just now able to read and organize those poems, Most of which, are a mystery to me. It is as if I now read them for the first time. The Lord used those words to change my life, and indeed save it …to be continued.

Deceptive Practices? Traditional media non digital groups

I am caught in a hard place. I belong to several groups calling for handmade art only without digital treatment of any kind. I have worked in both applications for some time now. There are several benefits in working in both but I feel there is a tendency to “romanticize” the traditional techniques. That is all fine and indeed I espouse some of that sentiment myself. Where I run into…

The Devaluation of Art and Artist

I read the other day Thomas Kincade has filed for bankruptcy. Less than a decade ago he was the top of the financial heap. Guaranteed I believe he was over managed by his agent, but I believe that the big picture, and the catalyst to his financial demise, lies in the trend of current culture to take art for granted. We don’t invest in art or artists. Much of the population sees art as m…

Problem with Group Moderation

I am wondering if anyone else is having problems with their art moving through moderation. I am not talking about features here but just being accepted or rejected. I find myself in the market for yet more and more groups as I am finding some that never get moderated….I am talking a month or months. Some of the groups in question a very specialized and one a only a few where the work wou…
