Affordable Allegories

Albuquerque, United States

Affordable Allegories is a collection of artist Roe LiBretto’s portable iconography, designed for everyday enjoyment.

Born to a family of empaths in Brooklyn, Roe studied drawing, painting, and design, in an attempt to share the visions that have followed her since childhood. Along the way, she had some lengthy gigs in publication design and spent a few years customizing motorcycles. She has also exhibited abstract drawings and sculptures in juried gallery shows internationally, and has received commissions, from the New York City Cultural Council and the Massachusetts State Council on the Arts, to create public kinetic installations. Roe’s fine art is currently represented by Ghostwolf Gallery and KD Neeley Gallery in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is also held in private collections, internationally.

The original paintings from which these icons are taken are watercolors. The unusual finishing technique creates work that most closely resembles the imagery as it appeared to the artist. Each piece contains a story that her collectors find humorous and personally relevant. Prompted by fan requests, Roe has selected some of her more popular iconography to use on these products.
