Last Night

Last night I glided down the isle,
In a flowing dress all in white.
With beautiful flowers all around,
Nothing has ever felt so right.

Last night you took my hand in yours,
With a golden ring you promised your love.
I took your hand and did the same,
Our vows were blessed by heaven above.

Last night we kissed with such tender passion,
At last we were pronounced husband and wife.
I’ve never felt such joy in my heart,
I’d cherish this moment for the rest of my life.

As we drove from the church you gazed in my eyes,
You held me close and asked how I was feeling.
I smiled and brushed my lips with yours,
I’d never been happier and my soul it was reeling.

I woke up this morning and reached out to touch you,
And then opened my eyes in utter confusion.
My heart did plummet as I realized the truth,
Damn the morning sun! Oh what an intrusion!

All I have of you now is that beautiful dream.
I’ll treasure that moment with every fiber of my being
In my heart I know there is a right time for us,
I’ll wait until then and just keep on believing.
