Crazy Love

I waited for you on a mountain top
Worried it would cave in
Loaded with my expectation

And felt sorry for a moment
That I had to burden it
With our crazy love.

I looked for you in shapes of clouds
And wondered how it made them feel
To be imagined into something else

I thought about how different they might have looked to me
Years earlier
Before our crazy love.

I wondered what words you might say
With that perfect calm
And if my ears would hear them right

Already apologizing for my misinterpretation
Another inevitable factor
Of our crazy love.

I shivered against the wind and smiled
Thinking how when you arrived
You’d shield me from it

Happy to give it a purpose
And a reason for you to warm me
With your crazy love

And as if it were as simple as that
There you were
Coming toward me

Amongst all the tall tall trees
That would never be as magnificent
As your crazy love for me

I took your face in my hands
And leaned in, all the way in
Felt your heart against mine

Finding the rhythm
The everlasting, perfect rhythm
Of our crazy love.
