Combining freehand digital painting, photo manipulation and traditional media is my favourite way to explore art, although I love it all and like to experiment. I often integrate layers of paint, fabric, collage, texture, colour, light, and pieces of anything interesting from the world or my imagination. Expressing emotion through the work is usually the key element.

New ideas flood my mind, but I prefer to work spontaneously, with only a vague idea or no plan at all. The process is what matters the most… the way it seems to have a life of it’s own, and leads me through deep feelings, colour, shape, texture, meaning, humour and joy. Listening to music accentuates the experience.

Tools used are a camera, scanner, laptop, PS CC, and Wacom Intuos 4 stylus/tablet. Also a wide variety of pencils, pastels, paints, markers etc.

*Soooo excited to be chosen as Abstract/Surreal (ASA) Creative Artist of the Month*

Thank you so much to Tori Yule and Andrew Nawroski, the great hosts of ASA (Abstract/Surreal Art)! I’ve been selected as Artist of the Month, a permanent feature. I was amazed to come across it before I’d heard, and lived a few SURREAL moments (in keeping with the group’s name), thinking there was something wrong with my monitor, or my brain! Now I’m just thrilled! / IR…
