Making Plans

‘You gonna answer?’ Sasha asked sleepily as his phone shrilled loudly. Kicking off John’s silky bedding clinging in waves around her skinny legs, she rolled over and glanced his way.
‘Nah,’ John replied saucily as he reached over and grasped her naked body.
Laughing, she pushed him away, rising from his soaking bed, ‘I’m going home now.’
‘Why?’ John whined. Sasha cringed. He was always good in bed and she enjoyed sharing her passion with him; beyond his bedroom, however, Sasha found him childish and annoying.
‘Amazing Race is on,’ she answered.
‘I have a plasma screen,’ John whimpered, ‘I even have surround sound. Why leave?’
Sighing as she dressed, Sasha knew she could no longer be around him.
Plopping down beside him, she held his limp hand in hers, ‘Look, John,’ she began, ‘We’ve had fun and I really like you…’
His lower lip began to quiver and his blue eyes were shining as he held up a hand, ‘You’re seeing someone else already?’
She shrugged her shoulders noncommittally, happy for him to wallow in a conclusion of his own imaginings.
Burying his face in a pillow, John was sobbing loudly as she headed home. Sasha was unconcerned. She’d been seeing him for five weeks and he was fraying away her composure.
Harry was already absorbed in her favourite program when she came in. Dumping her bag by her side, Sasha joined him. When an ad break came on, Harry gazed her way suspiciously, bushy eyebrows furrowed.
‘You dumped him already?’ he shook his head in disbelief when she refused to answer, ‘Did you get anything useful?’
‘No,’ she acknowledged wearily, ‘Find me someone else. Someone less needy.’
‘Jesus! You’re so picky.’
‘Well you keep choosing fools,’ Sasha snapped, her dark eyes flashing angrily, ‘None of your choices could have shown me all we need anyway. I reckon your precious floor plans are unnecessary anyway. Adele Bank is so full of morons a kid packing a BB gun could rob ‘em blind!’
Harry placed his arms around his wife’s shoulders consolingly, ‘Okay. Now, shush. Amazing Race is back on.’

Artist's Description

Written for Star Twister’s challenge.

Prompt – Amazing Race

Word Count – 350

I also took on JC Montgomery’s Scribble dare, which was to not use the letter T in the first paragraph. Thought I’d have a go at not using it at all!

Special thanks to Matthew Dalton! He knows why!

p.s. Not happy with the title. Anyone have a better suggestion that you’re willing to let me use?
