Artist's Description

*In the early days of space mining, ore carriers had to return to Earth orbit to transfer material, plus miners had to live on ships in orbit around whichever moon was being mined.

But that all changed with the invention of the Davistan Gravity Field, with the fields innovative application it was found much easier to “corral” a number of moons and asteroids and place a gravity field (bubble) around them.

This made the mining and of course the processing far simpler, mining facilities and accommodation for miners could be built, and by the 27 century megacites such as this one within the Formide Cluster.

One important offshoot of the gravity field bubble used in the mining of moons, was being able to colonize worlds that would otherwise have being passed over.*
