Springtime in Dingle, Kerry Ireland. 24 × 60″ Pastel on foam board prepared with rust colored Art Spectrum sanded pastel medium. From the “Into the Mystic” series.
Wow, Alice, I’m remembering the only time I went to Hawaii, I painted small 8×10 watercolors on different beaches, and was mystified how to paint waves in motion… finally got an understanding but they just won’t stand still. and I had no camera to help. I just love the little details that make that water look so wet!
Hi syd, just noticed this great comment – thank you! I honestly do not do plein air well. I could try more often I guess. This was done strictly from a photo – and it really wasn’t a good photo. It went really quickly to, allof a sudden I stepped back and said, wow! I like that, and it’s about done! A few final touches, and that was that. It’s a fairly large piece, 24 × 60″ and remains one of my personal faves. (see my re to Kate below)
I admire you for trying to lasso the waves – and Hawaii?! Someday…

can almost hear the water
Very impressive Alice. Are these oil pastels?
Thanks much James and Sean! Soft pastels.
Very nice treatment of the water in the foreground. Also I love the lavender/brown vs blue/green you’ve used for the ocean.
Love the sky Alice :))
This is one of my favourites in your collection, just brilliant.
This is really good, God your talented, The water looks amazing.
Thanks so much! This one sold first time out. Darn! I wanted to keep it a while. My fav spot in Ireland. I showed it in an antique frame.
This is stunning! You have a beautiful technique!!
This is where my spirit wake up!
Honored and touched by the fave Fausto! Your work is so incredible. It is a beautiful spot – one of the most beautiful I have seen on earth.
