Artist's Description

“Take my hand,” he says, reaching across the dark chasm.
I shake my head. “I can’t …..”
“Not leaving you behind, Claire,” he tells me quietly, tries to take hold of my hand but there is nothing …. nothing of me ….. He tries again and again. His hand grasps at darkness and grabs nothing.
“I told you,” I whisper, looking into his eyes. “I can’t come with you, my corporal.” Such determination in his eyes, such sorrow. He knows but still he won’t give up on me. And all the while the windmill slowly turns, dragging in the vortex of darkness.
