Artist's Description

the courtship of sea-snails is a dance
a dance that goes for twelve hours, I’m told
I didn’t stay that long that day on the beach
but I think my camera might have caught a little glimpse
I saw them moving ever so slowly by a rocky pool
uncovered by the tide during the night
baby snails were clinging to them and to the rock
their eggs having hatched inside the parents’ shells
( mum is dad and dad is mum when you’re a snail )
and these perfect tiny snails crawled out into the world
