Artist's Description

wildflower
don’t fret,
don’t wish to be a star,
for stars glitter
then they burn,
but you,
you bask in the sun
and bathe in the rain
and hold hands with the earth,
you, my little star,
you are tough
and you survive
you blossom where others wilt and wither
you sparkle in a green sky.

There is a subtle beauty in the little wildflowers. Uncultivated, unnoticed, they bloom without our praises, despised, rejected, as weeds that don’t belong in a flower garden. Yet they are little stars in their own right, as beautiful as any rose or daffodil. They symbolise beauty that blooms naturally, without adulation, without being modified to fit the expectations of others.
