Artist's Description

When my father died in 1984 I only asked for two photographs that hung in our garage for years. It was only when I was framing them that I noticed that this particular photo was marked “1949” at the bottom left.
What makes these photos so special is that they were taken in my home town of Radville, Saskatchewan, by my Grandfather Charles Bourassa (Mom’s side) and, because there were no color photos in 1949, these photos were hand-painted by Grandpa. Also the subjects of the photograph are my father Horace in the front tractor, with his younger brother Victor in the rear John Deere. These photos have proudly hung in my home ever since.
This digitally altered artwork is derived from a photograph taken July 27/16.
