The worlds first Iron Bridge built over the river Severn in 1779.
Built to a design by architect Thomas Farnolls Pritchard and cast at the Coalbrookdale ironworks of Abraham Darby III
The site was designated ‘World Heritage’ by UNESCO in 1986, in recognition of its major role in the birth of the industrial revolution in the early 18th century.
