Scholar's Legacy : The First

I spend my days as a willing captive to the chronicles of Others, ensnared in cages of bound paper and ink. I couldn’t leave, not if I wished it with my entire soul, for these characters are too heartfelt, too valid, and too honest even when they were created to lie.

I suppose you deserve a measure of pity. Were you not born into this world? This world where people strive endlessly to impress others and leave behind a legacy. And what legacy, I ask you, shall be remembered other than the legacy of evil? So yes, I give you my pity, for my cages do not contain enough room for another beside me, and as such you must endure these evils put forth by your kin. I doubt you would savor the taste of the declarations in the same way as myself anyway.

What I could do for your salvation – other than prop open the door to my world an inch – I cannot begin to guess. So I shall do as I have expressed, I shall share with you the extent of my wisdom as well as my weary soul can. Yet for all the words that fall from my lips, none of the credit is due to my mind. Nay, this glory falls to the shoulders of the men that have walked before myself, locked eagerly in cages thusly, as I have done in their example.

And so, I now tell you, and listen closely! These legacies that I’ve captured within my soul I shall leave to your judgment and yours alone.

Artist's Description

A project I started when I was drunk on my favorite author. Lautre’amont again.
Just an intro. I have no idea where this is going, if it goes anywhere.
It may just die.
