Artist's Description

Watercolour pencil & acrylic ink on 14″ x 17″ Canson Smooth Bristol paper.

A self portrait depicting what I’ve been dealing with for the better part of the last 2 years…
The liquid in each syringe represents a struggle/emotion: hopelessness, negativity, ennui, self loathing, fear, and doubt.
The liquids are colourful to symbolise trying to hide how bad they make me feel, pretending everything is fine, despite the fact that I feel like a zombie with everything that is in my head.
The syringes are old fashioned to represent how it’s felt like I’ve been going through this for a long time, and it feels like I am wasting my time and life because all these things keep me from doing things I really want to do.
These are the reasons I’ve struggled to do much photography and art recently.
